Gannet BioChem unites decades of activated polymer expertise with the full capabilities of a specialized CDMO. With roots in Shearwater Polymers and Nektar Therapeutics, our team has shaped polymer-enabled drug delivery for more than three decades.

Today, we bring that legacy forward, helping partners develop and manufacture custom polymer solutions for complex therapeutics with speed, rigor, and collaboration. We combine large-scale GMP manufacturing, compliant activated PEG production, and catalog-to-custom capabilities, enabling seamless support from early research through commercial supply.

Our story began in 1992, when Shearwater Polymers emerged as a pioneer in PEG reagent manufacturing. The expertise developed there, and later within Nektar Therapeutics, laid the foundation for many of the industry’s most recognized PEG-enabled therapies. In 2026, Gannet BioChem acquired Laysan Bio, a trusted supplier of catalog, custom, and compliant activated PEG reagents since 2006.

A consistent team of industry leaders drives Gannet BioChem’s broader focus on activated polymer services and modern conjugation strategies. The name has changed; the science, rigor, and people behind it have not.
